Frankenmuth, Michigan’s Little Bavaria

We are talking October and if you know what we mean, you couldn’t be anywhere but in Frankenmuth, Michigan if you are in the Midwest. All year long, this little quaint German town becomes live with festivities that has something for everyone. And that makes Oktoberfest one of the most celebrated events in this fun and cheery town wrapped in German heritage.

With horse drawn carriages reminding us of a bygone era, these rides offer the visitors to enjoy a bit from the past.

The carriages are clean and decorated and more than once, we have spotted happy newly-weds making the most of their wedding day with a beautiful ride through the town.

Frankenmuth offers something for everyone – food experiences to savor, fudges of every type that you can imagine, few of the best coffee places with outdoor seating while you listen to people playing music and dance all along the walkways and beautiful souvenir shops with the most intricate and beautiful pieces – be warned that it is very hard to leave without buying once you have set foot into any of these places!

Take an offbeat walk along the Cass riverside on a pleasant sunny day. This is right off the parking lot and is a short walk that leads to the covered bridge. The walk will also lead you to the Bavarian Belle Riverboat from where you can opt to take a fabulous narrated tour of Frankenmuth aboard the 150 passenger authentic paddle wheel riverboat

Think shopping, where else can you be but the numerous shops in Frankenmuth like Abby’s of Frankenmuth, the Castle Shops of Bavarian Inn, or the Leather gift shops. The Frankenmuth Clock Company is a treat to the eyes with over a thousand clocks in stock among which one is the world famous cuckoo clock. If you think you are done with all of these, head over to the BirchRun Premium Outlets near Frankenmuth and shop till you drop!
